How Would Minnesota Fans React to Favre? - New York Times
I think King got everything about right, as much as I hate to say it. I think Favre takes a lower-base-but-incentive-laden contract to silence a subset of the haters, as much as to reassure the Vikings. Not that those haters won’t just find something else to whine about.
The folks for whom football is a religion — on either side of the Minny-Winny border — will not like it, period. I suppose there a few some adults that still think “the guys that played for West High” are “enemies” too. I think most everyone else figures out the bigger picture by around 30 years old though. How people feel about this does seem to be split along age lines to some degree, in my experience.
But those that just enjoy watching professionals showcasing their extraordinary talents know that this would likely make the two Pack-Vike games even more “must see” games than they already are. FOr fans in the stands or in front of their plasmas on Sundays, that should be a good thing, one would think.
